Last year was, well, a bust. I managed to read only 69 books even though I wasn’t working most of the time because of my pregnancy. You would think that with all that free time I’ll sit on my ass and get some more reading done. Yeah… no.

Reading Pledge 2019

Last year I’ve made a similar post with a very long and compulsive list of books I felt I should read – all those I had at home gathering dust and calling to be read. Unfortunately life got the better of me and I got carried away with planning a wedding, honeymoon, trips and generally working so I got nowhere near where I wanted to be.

The Role of SETTING in Fiction

As writers we have to think of so many things to get our story to work – interesting characters and places, unexpected turns and twists, impeccable grammar and punctuation and so on, and so on. There are some geniuses out there that do this on instinct (and I hate them for it) but the rest of us have to pay close attention to every little aspect of our story.

The Role of TIME in Fiction

I present you the new topic – TIME. I know, it’s weird when you think of it but TIME is fundamental to a book just as much as plot or characters or a good hook. It is not as obvious or as interesting as those others components but if you mess it up – it would ruin your story.
